How to generate UPI ID in Amazon Pay: Step-by-step-guide

Amazon Pay is an online payments processing service app that is owned by Amazon. If you are using the Amazon app it is possible that you want to generate a UPI ID for easy shopping and hassle-free way of making payments.

Amazon Pay UPI is similar to other UPI such as PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, or any other BHIM UPI. Amazon India does not have a separate app for payments. It has included the Amazon Pay option on Amazon App.

You can link your savings bank account to it and start making payments on Amazon app and other third-party apps/websites that accept UPI. Check below how you can register for UPI through Amazon and create your own UPI ID.

Here is how to generate UPI ID in Amazon Pay:

  • Open the Amazon app on your phone and tap on Amazon Pay to open the Amazon Pay dashboard.
  • Now tap on Payment Options. On the Manage Payment Options page, tap on Manage Bank Account and proceed to add a new bank account.
  • Then tap on Add bank Account Linked to UPI.
  • Choose your bank from the list.
  • If you have multiple SIMs in your phone, it will ask you to select the SIM card associated with your bank account.
  • Now tap on Verify your mobile number. Allow Amazon to send an SMS and read it to verify your mobile number.
  • Post verification of your mobile number, your bank account details will be securely sought from the bank with the mobile number and the bank name you provided.
  • Then tap on Link Bank Account to link it.
  • Verify your debit card details by entering the last 6 digits of your debit card number and expiry date of your debit card.
  • Finally, tap on Set your UPI PIN and follow the instructions to set your secure UPI PIN.

Note:

  • The mobile number in use must be the same as the mobile number registered with your savings bank account.
  • You can also register for UPI while placing an order on the Amazon app from the Select a payment method page.
  • Only an Indian Savings bank account is supported.
