SOAP 1.1
在2000 年5 月，SOAP 1.1 曾在一份記錄中被建議到W3C（由開發商：IBM, Lotus, Microsoft 以及Userland），作為用於在分佈式環境中交換信息的一種協議。
W3C SOAP 1.1 文檔僅僅是一份用於討論的記錄（NOTE）。此記錄的發布不代表W3C 對其任何程度的認可。
SOAP 1.2
W3C 的XML Protocol 工作組目前正工作於SOAP 1.2
第一份工作草案發佈於2001 年12 月17 日。
SOAP 1.2 於2003 年6 月24 日被發佈為W3C 推薦標準。
